Ryan Bergh Thies '21 Receives Alexander Award

The Trustees of First Congregational Church of Westfield bestowed the church’s annual Alexander Award to distinguished high school graduate and active youth member Ryan Bergh Thies. Named in memory of long-time members Edna and John Alexander, the award is given annually to one or more high school seniors who have made a significant contribution to the life of the church.

Oratory Prep Closed Today

Due to the significant flooding, State of Emergency, and conditions in Summit and the surrounding area, Oratory Prep will be closed today, September 2nd. There will be no athletics or after school programming today. Classes will resume on Tuesday. Please be safe.

On June 5th, Oratory Prep held it’s Commencement for the Class of 2021 on Cavalero Field. The ceremony opened with Pomp & Circumstance and the Star Spangled Banner, performed by the OP Concert Band, followed by the pledge of allegiance. After opening remarks from Mr. Bob Costello, Head of School, the Salutatorian of the Class of 2021, Liam Henderson of Westfield, addressed the audience, reminding his classmates that there is good to be found in the challenges of this past year; it’s all about perspective. Due to the weather forecast for rain, Field Day scheduled for today, June 3rd has been canceled and OP will be closed for students, faculty and staff.

Oratory Prep Service Award Recipients Announced

Oratory Prep School is pleased to announce the 2021 Service Award Recipients. We wanted to recognize and thank them for their dedication, outstanding service and contributions that exemplify the Oratory spirit of excellence and devotion to others. Alumnus of the Year Award: J. Greco '21 Commits to Susquehanna

Congrats to senior Jack Greco on committing to continue his baseball and academic career at Susquehanna University! He received an academic scholarship and will be majoring in Business at the Sigmund Weis School of Business.

Perect Score

For the second time as a Latin student at Oratory, tenth grader, Brendan Milton achieved a perfect score on this year's National Latin Exam. This year, out of the 9,482 students who took the same exam worldwide, only 102 students earned a perfect score. Congratulations, Brendan!

Essay Contest Winner Announced

We are so proud to announce that senior Will Heffernan is the winner of the 2021 Seton Hall University Department of Catholic Studies Essay Contest. He will be awarded a $300 gift card and his entry will be published in the scholarly journal Arcadia: A Student Journal for Faith and Culture, which is indexed in the libraries of colleges and universities across the United States. Congrats Will!

Franks '23 Earns National Silver Medal

Brandon Franks just received a National Silver Medal for his ceramic vase called
“Golden Rays“ from The Scholastic Art and Writing program. Congratulations Brandon!
