National Merit Scholars

We are pleased to announce that as participants in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program, we have three commended students: Sebastian Gould, James Kim and Sudyut Sinha. Over 1.5 million students took the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last October, and only about 34,000 are recognized for their exceptional academic promise as commended students. We congratulate these three talented young men, recognize their accomplishments, and applaud their outstanding potential for academic success in the future.

Holy Week Pilgrimage to Portugal

Oratory Prep is offering a Holy Week Pilgrimage to Portugal for students from April 7, 2020 to April 14, 2020. The pilgrimage is open to all students in grades 7-12. De Guzman '22 Wins Gold

It was a busy start of the summer for Jake De Guzman '22 of Madison, NJ. He was on the roster of USA National Poomsae Team that represented our country at the 2019 Pan Am Cadet & Junior Poomsae Championships in Portland, Oregon on June 16th. He competed in the Mixed Freestyle Team, winning the gold medal with his teammates from M-Team TKD. Team USA finished First Place Overall with 12 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals at the Pan Ams.

Four OP Students Attend Boys State

OP’s reps at the American Legion NJ Boys State which was held at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. Graduation was on Friday, June 21st. Over 900 juniors from both public & private schools across the state participated in a week long leadership experience that they will never forget. Stelmach '20 Graduates From Ukrainian Studies School

In addition to his normal academic studies, for the past 12 years, Andrew Stelmach, class 2020, has attended 4-hour Ukrainian Studies classes every Saturday in Whippany, NJ, exclusively taught in the Ukrainian language, in the subjects of Ukrainian language, history, literature, culture, & geography. Being a 12th grader in this school, this April & May, while studying for the SAT, ACT, AP tests, Andrew was concurrently studying for a series of very difficult & unique, 18-hour, written & oral testing in each of the 5 Ukrainian subjects, taken over 3 weekends, exclusively in written & spoken Ukrainian.

Milton Achieves Perfect Score

Eighth Grader Brendan Milton achieved a perfect score on the 2019 National Latin Exam. Only 698 students out of nearly 130,000 who participated in the entire world attained this distinction. Congratulations Brendan!

De Guzman Earns Spot on National Team

Freshman Jake De Guzman earned a spot at the Cadet and Junior Poomsae Team Trials and Selection in Colorado Springs this past weekend (May 4 - 5). He will be part of the US National Team competing at the 2019 Pan American Taekwondo Championships in Portland, Oregon this June. This is his second time making the national team. Jake trains with Team - M Taekwondo Community Poomsae Program (CPP) out of San Jose, California.

Golf Team Captures Conference Title

On Monday, April 29th, the Golf Team won the Union County Conference - Watchung Division on a match of cards against Westfield. Junior Connor Snow led the Rams with a 73 and was second overall. Following Connor were junior Alex Felitto with a 77 and senior Sean Vowells with an 80. This is the team's third conference title in six years.
