Catholic Identity
As a Roman Catholic, college-preparatory school for boys in grades 7–12 within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark, the school seeks to form young men who are distinguished by faith, intellect, character, and service. Regardless of one’s faith tradition, we are inspired by St. Philip Neri, our patron, to develop young men in the virtues of fidelity, charity, humility, and joy in service of the common good.
Mission and Formation
The school's mission is to develop "young men of faith, intellect, and character" through an educational program rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition. Oratory Prep emphasizes personal growth, moral responsibility, leadership, and service, preparing students to contribute positively to their communities, the Church, the nation, and the wider world.
The school aims to cultivate men who are both intellectually prepared and spiritually grounded, encouraging students to become "men of faith and action."

Spiritual Development
Key elements of Spiritual life at Oratory Prep include:
- Annual retreats for all students in grades 7–12.
- Service Retreats
- Regular school liturgies and opportunities for Mass and prayer.
- Student leadership opportunities through Campus Ministry, Eucharistic Ministry, retreat leadership, and music ministry.
- Faith formation programs inspired by Catholic teaching and tradition.
Service and Social Responsibility
The St. Philip Neri Club connects faith with service to others. Students participate in community service initiatives, including volunteering at food banks, assisting local charitable organizations, and engaging in service projects throughout the year. Opportunities for summer service at the Nazareth Farm in West Virginia and during the school year with the Romero Center in Camden, NJ, further reinforce the Catholic commitment to human dignity and social responsibility.
