Admissions Process

Request for Information
To obtain a viewbook from the admissions office, please fill out the online information form located here or call the admissions office at (908) 273-1084, Ext.1.
Submit Application
Submit the completed Admissions Application along with a $50 non-refundable application fee payable to Oratory School. An applicant photo is encouraged.
Application Due Date
Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis at this time.
Please review all of the information below before starting the application process!
1. Online Application (required)

 To apply now for 2020-21, click here.

You may click on the TADS Admissions & Enrollment logo on the right to start the online application process. This includes completion of an Admissions Application and submission of the $50 application fee. Upon your submission of our Application and Payment, our online platform will prompt you to download the following:
      • A transcript release form to be given to your son’s school for the transcripts from the last two years including standardized testing.
      • Transcript releases and recommendation forms are to be given to your son’s current English teacher, Math teacher, and Principal/Guidance Counselor. The completed forms should be sent directly by the writer to TADS as instructed on the forms, after the first marking period.
      • A transcript release form to be given to your son's school for the first marking period grades of the current school year.
      • English Teacher Recommendation Forms (after the first marking period).
      • Math Teacher Recommendation Forms (after the first marking period).
      • Principal or Guidance Counselor Recommendation Form (after the first marking period).
If your son has undergone evaluation by a school psychologist or by an independent educational consultant, then we will also require copies of the most recent test reports and plan if applicable.
2. Student Visit- 7th grade (required), all other grades (optional).
After completion of the Online Application, please contact the Office of Admissions to schedule your son for a student visit. Please click here to fill out a visitor medical release form.

3. Student Interview (required)
Student interviews are conducted on an appointment basis or during the “Student for a Day” visit.

4. Parent conference (required)
The parent conference must be scheduled either on the same day as the “Student for a Day” visit or another convenient day.
5. Admissions Exam (required)
9th Grade Admission Exam
Oratory Prep will be using the Archdiocesan COOP/HSPT Exam. Please contact the Admissions office to discuss the COOP Exam and acceptable alternatives.

7th Grade Admission Exam

This exam will be administered by Oratory's Admissions Office. There will be a $55 examination fee. Please contact the Admissions Office for additional information.

All decisions are made by the Admissions Committee. We have rolling admissions until we are fully enrolled.

Tuition Assistance

Financial Aid

Financial aid at Oratory Prep is based on each family’s ability to pay. To assess financial need, we require families to submit parent financial information to Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS). The TADS Application Form can be accessed online at Priority financial filing date was Friday, December 6, 2019.
Applications received after the December 6, 2019 priority deadline are welcome, with the understanding that financial aid funds may be expended by this time.

Merit-Based Aid

Applicants to Oratory Prep may also compete for one of several merit scholarships: Bain-Gearin Scholarships, Cardinal Newman Scholarships and Head of School Awards. These scholarships are for students who demonstrate strong character and academic promise through their schoolwork, teacher recommendations, COOP/HSPT Admission Exam, and the Scholarship/Placement Exam.
