When we were looking for high schools for me, we wanted a place that could safely balance academics, athletics, and a strong sense of belonging. Let me touch on all three.
In terms of academics, Oratory offers a curriculum that challenges you—not in a negative way, but in a way that helps expand your mind and encourages you to see things from new perspectives. As you progress in your academic career, the curriculum becomes more flexible, allowing you to focus on your interests and the subjects that motivate you. Our academic programs are excellent, and in every class, you're driven not only by the desire to succeed but also by the enjoyment of learning.
Having spent two years with our esteemed cross-country team, which ranks among the top 20 in New Jersey, I can also speak to the strength of our athletics.
And then, there's the sense of belonging. During your time at Oratory, you’ll have countless opportunities to bond with your brothers—whether it's on class retreats, at dodgeball and handball tournaments, or during the talent show. No one here is ever "othered." We are all one family and one community. No matter who you are or where you come from, Oratory becomes your second home. I guarantee that 100%.
I think one thing that really separates Oratory from other schools is the Brotherhood. This Brotherhood comes from the shared experiences you go through as a Ram—whether it’s laughing about memories from the freshman retreat, sitting in class with your friends, or watching a buzzer-beater at a Varsity basketball game. That camaraderie is the heart of the Oratory experience. It’s what motivates every one of us to come to school each day. Whether it’s teachers or students, we want to be here. We want to learn, grow, play, and connect.
This idea of Brotherhood supports the Oratorian virtue of Fidelitas, or fidelity—faithfulness to something you believe in. If you want to see that in action, look no further than OP. We walk in faith, not fear—like brothers, not strangers. Because once you're a Ram, you're with the herd forever.
I welcome you, brothers—and Go Rams!
