The Associate Head of School, Mr. Owen McGowan, of Oratory Prep School announced this week that Timothy Ring has been named a Commended Student in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program.

We recently entered the State Farm Celebrate My Drive contest, and we have learned that our submission has been selected as one of the 100 finalists! Out of those, the top 22 in total votes will each receive a $100,000 grant from State Farm to be used for the overall benefit of each school, and partially to promote safe teen driving.

Andrew worked as a member of the Board this past year, in which they awarded a $10,000 grant to the Eating Disorders Program at Overlook Medical Center.

Alex Stigliano took first place in the recent Junior Gold League at Carolier Lanes. As a result, Alex has qualified for the National Junior Gold Tournament next July in Indianapolis.

Congratulations to Eric Warga '16 who was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout earlier this month. The ceremony was held at St. Mary’s Church, Denville, NJ on Sunday June 7, 2015. Eric is part of Troop 118 in Denville. For his project Eric built a shed for garden tool storage as well as raised garden beds at the Interfaith Food Pantry in Morris Plains, NJ, where he has previously volunteered.

Oratory Prep is proud to announce that Connor Briggs ’15 has been chosen as one of the 10 MyCentralJersey.com Academic All Stars for 2015. There will be a ceremony honoring Connor and the other winners at the Somerset Patriots baseball game on June 9th at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater. He and the other honorees will be featured in a special presentation on June 14 in the Courier News, Home News Tribune and MyCentralJersey.com. Connor will attend Princeton University this fall pursuing an A.B. in Economics.

On Saturday, May 30th, Oratory Prep held it's Commencement Ceremony, where 62 young men received their diplomas. The Valedictorian of the Class of 2015 was Alexander Pompetzki and the Salutatorian was Donald Koomar. Alex will be continuing his studies at The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania and Don will be entering the Naval Academy at Annapolis. We wish all of our graduates the best of luck in their future endeavors.

OP junior Andrew Vita and his brother Freshman Corey Vita were recently featured in a story in the Morristown Medical Center Foundation Journal for their fundraising efforts to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Andrew also served on the Overlook Medical Center Junior Board this past year. He finished up the year there with a grant donation to the Eating Disorders Unit.

The Oratory Varsity Golf Team took home the the Non-Public B State Championship yesterday. Third-ranked Oratory finished first in Non-Public B with a 319 and No. 4 Pingry registered a 326 for second.
