For these student-athletes, it was the experience of a lifetime: an opportunity to compete on the same track where Olympians have raced and where the U.S. Olympic Trials are regularly held.
Over the course of the national meet, the Rams competed in seven events, broke five school records, and earned medals in three events. Even more impressively, two relay teams finished in the top eight in the Championship Division, officially earning All-American honors.
A Historic Performance
Oratory’s record-breaking relay teams turned heads with standout performances in the following events:
- 4x200m Relay (Brezee, Nassoura, O'Dowd, Sheehan) – New School Record (1:33.1)
- 4x400m Relay (Sheehan, Kelly, Spiegle, Nolan) – New School Record (3:25.6) & Medalists (4th in Emerging Elite Division)
- 4x800m Relay (Kelly, Bassolino, Murphy, Nolan) – New School Record (7:58.5)
- Sprint Medley Relay (SMR) (Spiegle, Sheehan, Nolan, Kelly) – New School Record (3:34.9), Medalists, and All-American status (4th in Championship Division)
- Distance Medley Relay (DMR) (Kelly, Spiegle, Nolan, Bassolino) – New School Record (10:23.5), Medalists, and All-American status (5th in Championship Division)
The SMR team—Charlie Spiegle ’25, Brody Sheehan ’26, James Nolan ’26, and Declan Kelly ’25—and the DMR team—Declan Kelly, Charlie Spiegle, James Nolan, and Connor Bassolino ’26—both placed in the top 8 in the Championship Division, the meet’s most elite field. That distinction officially earns each of them Nike Outdoor Nationals All-American honors.
A Fitting Finale for Seniors
For seniors Declan Kelly, Zade Nassoura, Aidan O'Dowd, and Charlie Spiegle, the meet in Eugene marked the culmination of their decorated careers at Oratory Prep. These young men have led the Rams with grit, humility, and heart. To conclude their time at OP by breaking records and earning All-American recognition on a national stage is a testament to their hard work and leadership. OP coaching staff knew this meet would be special, but to see our athletes rise to the occasion, represent Oratory on a national level, and leave with All-American honors is something we here at Oratory won't soon forget.
Beyond the Medals
While the results were historic, the experience went beyond times and trophies. The athletes had the chance to compete against the best high school runners in the nation, walk the same track as legends, and bond as a team in an environment that celebrated the spirit of competition and brotherhood. From team dinners to cheering each other on from the stands, the trip was a celebration of everything OP Track & Field stands for.
As the 2025 season officially comes to a close, we celebrate not only the All-Americans and record-setters, but every Ram who contributed to this unforgettable chapter in OP athletics.
