Marking a Century as Oratory Prep

In 2007, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of our school’s founding in 1907. But in 2024, we recognized a different and deeply meaningful milestone—100 years since the transformation from Carlton Academy to Oratory Preparatory School. More than a change in name, this moment marked the beginning of a new identity, mission, and vision that continues to guide us today.

Commemorating this centennial is a tribute to the generations who shaped Oratory—our founders, alumni, parents, faculty, and students—and a reaffirmation of the values and traditions that define who we are. It bridges past and present, reconnecting generations of the OP community and reminding us of the school’s lasting impact on lives and learning.

At the Closing Mass of the Holy Spirit, members of our faculty and administration reflected on the year through the lens of our core values: Fidelity, Charity, Humility, and Joy. Their reflections affirmed the strength of our Brotherhood and the shared purpose that unites our community.

Yet a centennial is not only a time to look back—it is an invitation to renew our mission, imagine new possibilities, and shape the next 100 years of Oratory Prep.

We are especially grateful to the members of our 100-Year Committee—Mr. Bill Martin, Mrs. Linda Michalski, Fr. Matthew Dooley, Ms. Christine Villaverde, Mr. Jack Horan, Mr. Billy Crum, Mr. Owen McGowan, Mr. Connor Daugherty, Mr. Joe Barresi, and Mrs. Kathy Otterbein. Through their time, talent, and dedication, they helped make this milestone year truly memorable for our entire community.

Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future

At Oratory Prep, we believe that honoring our history—and the people who shaped it—is essential to guiding our future. As part of our celebration of the 100th anniversary of the transition from Carlton Academy to Oratory Prep, we’re proud to present a two part video series, thoughtfully written and narrated by Mr. Jack Horan.

Each episode explores a distinct theme, highlighting the people, moments, and milestones that have defined Oratory’s enduring legacy. Together, these stories preserve the values and traditions that continue to shape who we are today.
