Mrs. Susan Preston

Mrs. Susan Preston has shared her passion and enthusiasm for art with the Oratory students since 2001. Under her direction, Oratory’s art students have won awards on both the county and state levels as well as in juried exhibitions such as Scholastic Art and Writing and the National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition Foundation. The art studio boasts many areas of art including fine, applied, art history and ceramics. Each year students have the opportunity to go on field trips to N.Y and local museums as well as on our annual “Raku” pottery trip. The OP students also exhibit their artwork and attend the Union County Teen Arts Festival. OP is proud to have a chapter of the National Art Honor Society and students participate in many art related community service projects.

 

Mrs. Preston, who has a degree in fine arts with a concentration in textile design, holds a NJ teaching certificate in art. Well known for her business of 22 years, Mrs. Preston has been selling her artwork since high school. Specializing in Batik wall hangings, hand painted clothing and glassware. Mrs. Preston has not only sold her artwork to over 20 stores in the tri-state area including Bloomingdales, but has participated in many juried craft shows as well. Her hobbies include expanding her knowledge of Asian Art and perfecting her traditional Chinese Brush Painting techniques, and playing and making art with her grandchildren.
