Science Lesson: Floating on Faith and Ingenuity
Our 7th and 8th graders dove into a hands-on lesson in density last week—by setting sail! Armed with nothing more than foil, popsicle sticks, and tape, students engineered boats designed to hold as many marbles as possible. The winning design amazed us all, holding an incredible 500 marbles before sinking!
Special thanks to Mr. Seebode, whose creative lessons spark curiosity, build problem-solving skills, and encourage just the right amount of friendly competition.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
At our first school Mass earlier this month, the Oratory Prep community joyfully recognized our 2025–2026 Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist.
Congratulations to Henry Farabee, Brandon Lissade, Rory Lago, Max DeInnocentiis, Joey DeMarco, Anthony Costa, Lucas Costa, and Rocco Santillan for answering the call to serve. Their example of faith and leadership will inspire fellow Rams throughout the year.
Art in Action: Digital Photography Scavenger Hunt
Students in our Digital and Advanced Digital Photography classes recently embarked on a scavenger hunt with a creative twist. Their challenge was to capture the Elements and Principles of Art through their own lens, then explain how each photo connected to classroom lessons.
It was a unique way to turn knowledge into action—and the results were as thoughtful as they were artistic. Special thanks to Mrs. Wirth for sharing these awesome shots!
Faculty Retreat: Grounded in Mission
On Friday, September 12, OP faculty and staff gathered at the Shrine of St. Joseph in Stirling for a retreat filled with reflection, fellowship, and faith.
Rich Donovan of the Archdiocesan Office for Youth & Young Adult Ministry led an inspiring presentation on the importance of ministering to young people. His passion and perspective energized the group, reminding us of the sacred work entrusted to educators.
The morning concluded with a Mass celebrated by Father Matthew Dooley, our school chaplain, and continued with lunch and camaraderie. Together, our faculty renewed their shared commitment to serving the young men of Oratory Prep.
9th Grade Retreat: Building Brotherhood
Our 9th graders recently came together for their class retreat—a day dedicated to reflection, bonding, and Brotherhood as they begin their journey at OP.
We are grateful to our dedicated teachers for chaperoning and to Father Matthew for leading the retreat with energy, faith, and encouragement.
Opening Mass: A Tradition of Spirit and Fellowship
September also marked our special opening schedule, a day filled with celebration of faith and tradition.
We began with an assembly where upperclassmen reflected on how the Four Pillars—fidelity, humility, charity, and joy—are lived out each day at Oratory. The community then celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit with Father Matthew, concelebrated by Fr. David Santos of St. James Church in Springfield.
The day concluded with an all-school barbecue and time on the field, a joyful moment of Brotherhood that set the tone for the year ahead. 🐏✝️
From the classroom to the chapel, from the field to the retreat house, September reminded us that OP is more than a school—it’s a community built on faith, character, and Brotherhood.
