On November 16 Mrs. Donna Stelmach, mother to Andrew '20, delivered an enlightening after-school presentation centered on Ukraine's current struggle with Russia to nearly 30 Model UN students. Born in Communist Poland to Ukrainian parents, Mrs. Stelmach is a practicing US attorney and has served as president of the Ukrainian American Bar Association.
On Friday, November 11th, Oratory Trustee Steven Macri and his wife Theresa were invested as Knight and Dame of the Order of Malta. The investiture took place at Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. Father Sal concelebrated the mass with Cardinal Dolan and other Order of Malta chaplains from the American Association.
OP Student Council Members attended the New Jersey Blood Services High School Blood Drive Summit yesterday to prepare for our blood drive. The Summit was hosted by Johnson & Johnson. In attendance were Blood Drive Chairmen Anthony Silvestri '17 and Seamus Degen '17, and committee members Fernando Aviles '19 and Patrick Heffernan '18.
OP Mock Trial conducted a demonstration case on Thursday at the NJ Bar Association Mock Trial Workshop. OP represented the plaintiff in the case, and was selected to be part of the demonstration after their State Finalist performance last year.
On Tuesday, October 18th, six OP Middle School students participated in the School Consortium of Middle Schools annual Chess Tournament, held at Central Middle School in Stirling, NJ. The team of 8th graders Dan Bennett, Sean Caricich and Jonathan Cranley, and 7th graders Sebastian Cortes, Parth Desai and Charlie Sims placed 2nd overall in a field of 10 participating schools. Congratulations to all the participants!
