Founded in 1906, the Cum Laude Society is dedicated to honoring scholastic achievement in secondary schools in the United States and abroad. The Motto of the Cum Laude Society is Areté, Diké, Timé; which translates to ‘Excellence, Justice, Honor’. Students are selected for membership based on their cumulative academic record with no more than 10 percent of a class chosen during the junior year.
In 2016, ten students were named to the Cum Laude Society along with a number of Charter Members representing Oratory Prep alumni, faculty, and staff. They include Matthew Falcone, Richard Imossi, Anton Kral, Ian Mauser, Brendan Mooney, Joseph Nowacki, Christopher Rose, Daniel Thek, Xavier Warganz, and Daniel Zarauza.
Charter Members include Mrs. Elizabeth Acquadro, Mr. Bob Costello, Mrs. Donna Derise, Mr. Jack Horan, Mr. Frank Kearns, Mrs. Kacie Krause, Mrs. Cathy Marshall, Mr. William McCrystal, Mr. Owen McGowan, Dr. Lee Sherry, and Christopher Geissler, Class of 2009.
