The National Blue Ribbon Schools award honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students’ levels of achievement. Oratory Prep was cited as an “Exemplary High Performing” school, as measured by state assessments and nationally normed tests.
This recognition is a testament to both the outstanding work and dedication of our faculty and staff, as well as the efforts and successes of our students. In today’s competitive climate surrounding high school education, awards and rankings are more prevalent than ever, and some tend to be (at best) subjective or (at worst) unreliable. While our school has been the beneficiary of some high praise recently in state and national school rankings, we are cautious to put too much stock in rankings and rating services using nebulous criteria. The criteria used in the National Blue Ribbon program however, are objective and transparent, which gives us the confidence that we are truly worthy of such an honor.
Members of our administration will represent the school at the official recognition ceremony in Washington, D.C. on November 9th. As a school, we will schedule a day of celebration for students and staff during Spirit Week (October 13-16). More details will follow as we approach Spirit Week.
