Dear Oratory Family:
It is with great sadness we inform you of the passing of Reverend Paul R. Manning on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Father Manning served Oratory Prep for close to thirty years. Having come to OP in 1974, he later held the role of Headmaster from 1992 to 1994. Father Manning was well-versed as a master teacher, teaching such disciplines as Mathematics, Religion, Latin, Greek and Spanish. He additionally served as moderator of several clubs and activities throughout his tenure. Father Manning was especially well-known as OP’s beloved Varsity Tennis Coach, holding that position for an impressive 19 years. His influence on his students was so great in fact, that he presided over the sacraments of marriage and baptism of many alumni and their children.
Undoubtedly, Father Manning had a profound effect on the many students and families whose paths he crossed in his ministry as an educator. It is a sentiment echoed by so many of you, our alumni, in the poignant stories you have shared about him. Father left an indelible mark on the history of Oratory Prep, embodying all that is good about OP. May his memory live on forever in the hearts and minds of all who were lucky enough to know him.
