Two weeks later, from June 28 to July 4, Jake was in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the 2019 USA Taekwondo National Championships where over 3,000 athletes from all over the U.S. were in attendance. He competed in the World Class U17 divisions taking home a gold, silver and bronze medals for Junior Freestyle Team, Individual FS, and Pairs FS respectively.
He clocked in many hours of remote training, and accumulated lots of miles flying to San Jose, California to be able to keep up with the program this season. His coaches are Huy Nguyen, Long Nguyen, Anh Nguyen, Alvin Jong and Eddie Jeong (M-team TKD).
