ORATORY PREP PARENTS’ GUILD

Information and Volunteer Opportunities

The Oratory Prep Parents’ Guild is comprised of all parents and/or legal guardians of current Oratory students.

The purpose of the Parents’ Guild is to build a sense of community among the parents of Oratory students, to conduct fundraising in order to enhance the quality of education at Oratory and to promote interaction between parents and the administration and faculty.

The Parents’ Guild meets monthly, usually the first Monday of each month.  These meetings are not mandatory. The meetings are open to all interested parents or legal guardians of Oratory students. Please refer to the calendar section of Edline for exact time and location.

Below are just some of the activities sponsored by the Parents’ Guild:

Fall Fashion Show

On Sunday, November 15, 2009, the Parents’ Guild will host its annual Luncheon/Fashion Show and Senior Showcase at the Dolce in Basking Ridge. This year’s theme, “A Day at the Races” includes a beautiful Gift Basket Auction, a chance to shop at selectively chosen boutiques, the Grand Raffle, a delectable luncheon followed by a Fashion Show featuring Oratory Moms and the Senior Showcase finale highlighting the Class of 2010.

Spring Gala

Save the Date!!! April 16, 2010 Brooklake Country Club will be the site of this year’s Spring Gala themed “April in Paris”.  This formal occasion consists of an exquisite silent auction, instant prize game and announcement of the 50/50. Dining, dancing and great fun abound.

Father/Son Communion Breakfast

The men of Oratory will gather on October 25, 2009 to celebrate our faith with a Communion Breakfast. After Mass is celebrated in the gym, a delicious breakfast is served. This is an ideal opportunity for celebration and camaraderie.

World Language Masses

Oratory Prep students of Latin or Spanish have the opportunity to participate in Mass celebrated in its entirety in their language of study. Following each Mass, the Parents’ Guild provides a feast reflective of the culture and tradition of that language. The Masses will take place on December 9 and 10, 2009.

Ram Day

Ram Day, March 27, 2010, is the Oratory community’s day of spring cleaning. Parents, students and any willing family members are welcomed to participate in beautifying the school grounds. The more the merrier. The morning begins with Mass, followed by mulching, raking, painting, cleaning, planting, etc.  The fruits of our labor are evident on the next day – the day of the Family Mass.

Family Mass

On March 28, 2010, we will celebrate our Family Mass in the gym. This is the day the entire Oratory community comes together and participates in a liturgy reflective of the Oratory spirit and faith. Students, parents, siblings and special guests then partake of a sumptuous breakfast.

Please consider getting involved and volunteering your time. Friendships that you will make as a result of volunteering will last well beyond graduation.
