Admissions Process
Request for Information
To obtain a viewbook and application package from the admissions office, please fill out the online information form or call the admissions office at (908) 273-5771 x11. The 2010-2011application forms are available for download on the web site.
Submit Application
Submit the completed Admissions Application and Applicant Questionnaire along with a $50 non-refundable application fee made out to Oratory Prep School. An applicant photo is optional but encouraged.
Application Due Dates
Applications to be considered for the initial round of acceptances should be received no later than December 17, 2010. Applications submitted after this date will be considered on a rolling admissions basis.
Student for a Day
The Office of Admissions will contact you following receipt of your application and application fee to schedule your son for a “student for a day” visit. Student interviews are conducted on the day of the visit. The required parent conference can also be scheduled at that time.
Submit Transcripts
A Transcript Release Form should be completed and returned as soon as possible. The form must come from the current school to our Admissions Office and should include:
- Transcripts from the past 3 years
- Most recent report card and standardized test scores
- Standardized test scores from the past 3 year
- Educational or psychological evaluations
Submit Recommendation Forms
Give Teacher Recommendation forms to your child’s current English , Math and/or Principal/Guidance Director and have all forms sent directly by the writer to our Admissions Office.
Take Admissions Test
9th Grade Admission Test- (PLEASE CALL THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE AFTER NOV. 5, 2010)
Oratory Preparatory School will be using the Archdiocesan COOP Exam. The exam will be administered at Oratory Preparatory School on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 8:30am.
To apply for the COOP Exam on-line please visit www.coopexam.org after September 1, 2010. For questions concerning the exam or exam registration materials, please contact (888) 921-2667or email support at support@coopexam.org. Oratory Prep's COOP school code is 837.
7th Grade Admission Test- (PLEASE CALL THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE AFTER DEC. 4, 2010)
The Lower School exam will be administered on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 8:30am. Please contact the Admissions Office for additional information.
Decisions
All decisions are made by the Admissions Committee. Decisions are mailed out on Thursday, January 20, 2011. Thereafter, we have rolling admissions.
Tuition Assistance
Financial Aid
Financial aid at Oratory Prep is based on each family’s ability to pay. To assess financial need, we require families to submit parent financial information to Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS). The TADS Application Form can be accessed online at www.tuitionaid.com. Priority financial aid filing date is Friday, December 3, 2010.
Merit-Based Aid
Applicants to Oratory may also compete for one of several merit scholarships: Bain-Gearin Scholarships, Cardinal Newman Scholarships and Head of School Awards. These scholarships are for students who demonstrate strong character and academic promise through their schoolwork, teacher recommendations, COOP Admission Exam, and the Scholarship/Placement Test, which will be held on December 4, 2010.
